Meet Our Leaders

Executive Director

Kathy Scoggins

Kathy has been part of the Harbors since the very beginning — here on day one in 2008 and instrumental in building what it’s become ever since. With over 35 years in senior care, including owning and operating her own retirement community in the Menominee area, she brings a depth of experience that’s hard to match and a personal commitment to this community that runs even deeper.

Kathy knows the families, the physicians, and most importantly, the residents — because to Kathy, this has always been more than a job. When she’s not at the Harbors, you’ll find her lost in a good book or out at a local community event. And in a fun twist of history — before senior living found her, she was welcoming travelers at Los Angeles International Airport as a Ground Hostess. The warmth hasn’t changed a bit.

Activities Director

Melodee Kolenda

Melodee is the kind of person who walks into a room and immediately makes it more fun — just ask anyone who’s joined her for happy hour or bingo. As Activities Director, she pours her creativity into every corner of resident life, from devotionals and sing-alongs to trivia nights, field trips, and cultural explorations of countries near and far.

Melodee is always dreaming up something new, because she believes a busy, joyful day is a good day. Outside the Harbors, Melodee channels that same energy into teaching piano and keeping up with her 13 grandchildren. She’ll tell you herself — she loves this team, and it shows in everything she does.

Community Liaison

Tami Hasse

Tami has been part of the Harbors family for over 15 years, and in many ways, she’s helped shape the community it is today. Her journey here has been anything but ordinary — starting in concierge, moving into Activities, touching Operations, and now serving as Community Liaison — each role deepening her understanding of what makes this place special.

Tami’s warmth and patience were forged long before senior living, during years in manufacturing where she discovered her natural gift for connecting with people. Ask her what she loves most about her work and she’ll tell you: showing off just how active and vibrant life at the Harbors really is. When she’s not here, you’ll find her at her Cricut designing custom t-shirts — and if the Harbors feels like family to her, that’s no surprise. All three of her kids have worked here too.

Facilities & Maintenance
Director

Todd
Boye

Todd has been keeping the Harbors running smoothly since the doors first opened in 2008, and if these walls could talk, they’d tell you there’s not much he hasn’t fixed, built, or improved over the years. A lifelong Menominee resident, Todd is as much a part of this community as the building itself.

Todd is the kind of steady, dependable presence that residents and staff count on every single day — quietly making sure everything just works. And if you think his dedication to the Harbors runs deep, consider this: his son has been tagging along to work since he was two years old, and today he works here too. Some legacies are built one generation at a time.

Our Building History

1891

St. Joseph’s Hospital was built on 10th avenue after Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis traveled by foot to solicit money from lumber camps. St. Joseph’s Hospital expanded to 75 hospital bed from 1900 to 1911.

When local industrialist Marshall Lloyd died in 1927, he left his fortune to the people of Menominee for health care, and a new hospital (later renamed St. Joseph’s-Lloyd) was erected next door.

1950

Marshall Lloyd Hospital, situated next to St. Joseph’s, was dedicated and also operated by the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis. In 1974, after facing financial problems, the Order divested its interest in the two hospitals and the county, renaming it Menominee County Lloyd Hospital.

1980

The first merger of hospitals across state lines took place with Menominee County Lloyd Hospital and Marinette General Hospital. A 20-year lease was signed with Bay Area Medical Center and services were further expanded. New facilities were built and in October 2005 the Menominee building was returned to the county.

2008

Renovations begin on the former Menominee County Lloyd Hospital to develop The Harbors Retirement Community, an exclusive new residence for seniors with unique amenities reminiscent of the historical charm of this community landmark.

Today

The Harbors continues as a modern and active 65 bed retirement community. The building is meticulously maintained to preserve the reminiscent of the historical charm of the community landmark.
